He made me a custom bridge with 46mm spacing for clawhammer style picking that was the perfect height for my banjo. Banjo is so much brighter sounding now from top to bottom, and as a bonus I found that it's easier to play because I'm not fighting to get thevolume and tone I want. The OMEhas always had plenty of volume, but the difference in the quality of tone and mostly the clarity of each note was nothing short of amazing. The tone is certainly rich; at proper head tensions on tone ring banjos (G - A tapped), the bridge delivers a surprising amount of bass response for how thin it is - but it does not loose volume or musicality. I purchased an 11/16 radiused Smile bridge for my Deering John Hartford banjo. More resonance. This bridge really changed the sound of the banjo. Tim's bridges are traditionally built for bluegrass banjos and are made from select woods, controlled by mass, and nicely designed. There are no words. The Babadook is rejected from Amelia and tries attacking Samuel, but is backed into a corner by his mother. When I first put it on, I think I noticed a bit of loss on the bottom end, low on the 4th string. a hear a crisper note with noticeably more sustain and less drop-off as the note decays. I just received a sycamore/rosewood bridge from Steve for a recently acquired Noel Booth open back banjo. One thing that stands out to me, though, from the general fact, is that bridges do NOT make HUGE differences on banjos; if someone says they do, then the size of the difference is really the apparent difference to the person, not the actual, quantifiable difference of the part. The curves are sinuous looking and the finish is very smooth with just a very light oil to protect and bring out the grain. After trying about 3 factory made bridges on my Gold Star GF100 I was a bit cynical about how much difference a decent bridge makes to my relatively untutored ear. Bart accepted a return and worked with me to get the perfect fit. I highly recommend it! My banjo had a harsh ring to the fifth string and a overall sound I couldn't get right. I love the design of the Emerson bridges, they give great tone and even volume throughout all strings.The vintage tone is the holly version, and gives a wonderfully crisp and bright sound to any banjo. Ive had one of Barts Archie bridges on my mid-sixties flathead bowtie for a few months now, and I have been loving it. 4 have been zebra with katalox, 1 is hard maple with ebony, and 1 with zebra purple heart top. I should have gotten one of these a long time ago.This is a 1/2" teak, Crowe spaced on a Reiter tubaphone with tight fiberskyn head. I may lost a SMALL amount of volume, and I mean small amount, but much clearer, cleaner tone, not harsh at all, more balanced and no harsh overtones. I received my bridge and within 10 minutes had it installed. I can "pull" out tones that are strong - or delicate - at will, without effort. These are nice bridges. It features 3 shallow feet and a hole beneath each string. I am sure there are many good Bridges out there but for me it is "Snuffy Smith". It warms the treble so much that it gets just a little clang-y, losing some of the Scruggsy, bell-like sweetness I like to hear in a Gibson banjo. It plays cleanly and in tune right to the 22nd fret in all positions and all strings. I dont hesitate to recommend Barts bridges for a moment. 3 hrs. So I sent him payment for that bridge and returned the one that I was not going to use. I brought a banjo (Recording King RK80) to Steve over a year ago for a setup. For some reason, I don't care for maple bridges. I've just recently begun using bridges made of woods other than the traditional maple/ebony. It is getting a really nice, ringing, bell-like tone from 12 all the way up to 22. Highly recommended. I have been using Moon bridges and have been happy with them, but wondered about other bridges. The bridge on it was the Zebra Katalox. I owe a huge debt of gratitude to Jim and Tim's music for hours of restorative listening so sorely needed in this time of fear and bleakness and loss. For my Goodtime Crow banjo, this is my second Tim Purcell banjo bridge that I have ordered from Tim after having such excellent results with the .656 bridge that he crafted for my Classic Goodtime scooped neck banjo. I tried a Sosebee and several other bridges, but all sounded about the same and very tight/restricted to my ear. It gives guicker decay ,dry sound and brings more bell like sound on higher registers and very clear notes on all the frets.
